PURPOSE:To prevent the optical fiber end holder from damaging owing to end surface light scattering by holding an optical fiber in partial contact with the peripheral surface. CONSTITUTION:In the range from the incidence end of the optical fiber 2 to the position where the scattered light S1 on the end surface becomes small, a linear projection part is formed in the holder 1 and the contact surface between the side peripheral surface of the optical fiber 2 and the inside of the holder 1 is made linear in the optical axis direction. Therefore, part of the scattered light S1 from the incidence end surface of the optical fiber 2 travels inward in the holder space and attenuates gradually and is not absorbed at a time as compared with entire-periphery contacting. Consequently, the tip of the holder 1 being in contact with the incidence end of the optical fiber 2 is not irradiated with the scattered light S1 directly to generate heat. |
