PURPOSE:To fix the position of a sound image at an optional position in free space by producing vertical sense with a frequency characteristic control circuit, forward/backward function with a time function control circuit and horizontal sense with a phase control circuit. CONSTITUTION:A frequency characteristic control circuit 2 consists of filters 2a-2c with equivalent characteristic to each of scaffold, fossa, concha in an auricle respectively and of a parametric equalizer 2d controlling the filter characteristics and matches the frequency characteristic of an inputted signal with the frequency characteristic of the human auricle to produce the vertical sense. Moreover, a time function control circuit 4 using a dual port memory 6 applies the frequency modulation to produce the forward/backward sense and a phase control circuit 14 comprised of a fixed constant delay circuit 14a and a variable constant delay circuit 14b produces the horizontal sense. Thus, the positioning of the sound image in every direction in a three-dimension space is realized. |
