PURPOSE: To make it possible to leak out hormones secreted via cells, by arranging a micro-capsule containing the hormone productive cells between a composite tubular mesh-made artificial blood vessel allowing both oxygen and hormones to be passed through and a polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)-made or low-porous material-made artificial blood vessel. CONSTITUTION: The micro-capsule 2 containing the hormone productive cells is arranged between a PTFE-made or low-porous material-made artificial blood vessel 1 and a composite tubular mesh-made artificial blood vessel 3. The tubular mesh is made of polyester fiber or PTFE fiber, has an inside diameter(ID) or 1-14mm, and externally supportable. This micro-capsule is made either of sacch arides/amino-acid polymer or any other semi-transparent material with an intensity of about 60,000 Dalton porosity. This makes it possible to move the metabolic products from inside to outside, and vice versa, but neither immunoglobulin nor any other macromolecule can be passed through there. The blood flow in the artificial blood vessel makes it possible to circulate the hormones secreted from the cells, as well as to perform the metabolism of the cells contained in the micro-capsule. |
