This actuator provides a more satisfactory and efficient metering actuator than those which have gone before due to the improvement in the seals provided at several essential interfaces. The actuator has a valve-opening member (12) which receives the valve stem (6) and conducts the contents of the container to a metering chamber (56) formed between the valve-opening member (12) and the finger-bearing member (32) which has a conduit (16) connecting the metering chamber (56) and a discharge orifice (54). A seal is effected between a dome-shaped portion (18) of member (12) and a hub (50) on member (32) to close off the conduit (16) from the metering chamber to the discharge orifice and also between a mating annual wall (26) and recess (40) disposed on the outer portions of members (12 and 32).
