A method of preparing a polyphenylene oxide (PPO) composition as well as a laminate using such composition, wherein a setting means containing a polyfunctional component having a crosslinking property and compatible with PPO is added to and mixed with PPO, and a sufficient film-forming property is provided to PPO, whereby the PPO composition can be obtained in the form of a film and, when a plurality of such films are stacked to form a metal-clad laminate, the laminate exhibits low dielectric constant and loss, so as to be effectively utilizable in such super high frequency band as X band used for satellite communication or the like.
