A method and system for promoting, offering for sale and selling national and international patent application rights and patent rights in inventions are provided. A patent application database has stored therein patent application information associated with the inventions. A server computer is connected to the Internet and to the patent application database. The server computer generates data indicative of an interactive Internet website for promoting, offering for sale and selling the national and international patent application and patent rights in the inventions. The interactive Internet website enables communication between the server computer and users of client computers connected to the Internet. The server computer receives via the Internet website patent application information and stores the same in the patent application database. The server computer retrieves the patent application information from the patent application database and provides the same via the Internet website. The server computer retrieves from the patent application database contact preference information associated with an authorized representative of a patent application and, establishes a communication link in dependence upon the contact preference information via the Internet website.
