PURPOSE: To improve the detecting accuracy by projecting at least two optical pulses having different wavelengths upon a prescribed underwater nodule and converting the pulses of reflected light rays from the nodule into videos, and then, subtracting the video of one wavelength from that of the other wavelength. CONSTITUTION: Two optical pulses having different wavelengths are projected upon the surface of the sea from a lighting laser system 2 through a magnifying optical device 18 by triggering a pulse timing generator 11 and the picture of back scattered light 22 containing the video of an irradiated nodule is taken with a CCD camera 20 through an optical device and a filter 24. The opening/ closing timing of the camera 20 is set to the time corresponding to the arrival of the scattered light from the projecting time of the system 12 by means of a pulse timing generator 14. The signal received by the camera is processed by means of a video processor 26 and displayed on a CRT 28 after subtracting the video of one wavelength from that of the other wavelength.
|
