<p>PURPOSE:To realize a power rectifier, which is not limited in capacity and can respond at a quick response time of one millisecond or lower and which can be operated at a cryogenic temperature by a method wherein, at a main yoke on which a primary- side input coil and a secondary-side output coil composed respectively of superconducting wires have been wound, an electric current is applied to a control coil of a yoke for control use and a bias magnetic field is generated periodically. CONSTITUTION:A rectifier R is composed of the following: individual coils L0, L1, L2, C1, C2, C3, C4 which are all composed of superconducting wires; and individual yokes Y0, Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4 such as ferrite yokes for high-frequency use which are all provided with an extremely good frequency characteristic. When parts of the yokes Y1, Y2, Y3 Y4 for control coil use are ignored, a transformer T at a remaining part is the same as an ordinary transformer. When an AC electric current flows to the primary-side input coil L0 in the central part of the main yoke Y0, an AC magnetic flux generated at the primary-side input coil L0 is transmitted uniformly to both sides, and an AC voltage of the same potential is generated at the secondary-side output coils L1, L2 on both sides.
