A para-oxy benzoyl copolyester is produced by reacting monomer of formula (I) with monomer of formula (III) [Mixing mole ratio of (I):(III) = 2:3-4:1 to produce cpd. of formula (IV), adding acetic anhydride to the cpd. (IV) to produce cpd. of formula (V), adding monomer of formula (II) to the cpd. (V) [Mixing mole ratio of (II):(III) = 10:15-15:10 to produce a polymer, melting the polymer in p-chlorophenol, and melt-spinning the molten polymer. In (IV) and (V), n is 0 or 1. The moldable copolyester has an improved tensile strength and modulus.
