<p>PURPOSE:To save number of serial connection cables and to eliminate serial/ parallel conversion not required between elements by concentrating time division multiplex buses in the inside of a switch element to the outside, interconnecting module groups with a branch cable and integrating intermediate output and input modules. CONSTITUTION:An input and output module 2 in an output buffer ATM multi- stage connection switch is the integration of an input module 1 and an output module 3. The input and output modules 2 in the unit of four modules are integrated in a switch element as an input/output module group 6. Moreover, the input module 1 in the unit of four modules are integrated into an input module group 5, and output modules in the unit of four modules are integrated into an output module group 7. The input and output module 2 consists of an address filter and an FIFO buffer and does not include a serial/parallel converter and a parallel/serial converter. The branch cable 4 is a time division bus lead to the outside of the switch element and interconnects 81 incoming line connectors and 94 outgoing line connectors in multiple.</p> |
