A mobile plant for removing contaminated liquid, such as a mixture of oil and water, is mounted on a motor vehicle. The plant consists of a collector tank (B) in which a sub-atmospheric pressure is maintained by means of a water jet pump which is supplied with water from a centrifugal pump. The contaminated liquid is drawn into the collector tank through a hosepipe. The liquid flows out of the collector tank into the separator tank (A) which has a dividing wall with a gap between the lower edge of the wall and the tank floor. A pipe (21) extends from the collector tank into the separator tank with an outlet near the separator tank floor. The part of the separator tank on the side of the separator wall opposite to the pipe has an overflow outlet.
