PURPOSE:To prevent fibrillation and delamination by irradiating a liq. crystalline polymer molding with an ionizing radiation. CONSTITUTION:A liq. crystalline polymer is obtd. by thermally melting 30-74mol% p-hydroxybenzoic acid and 70-26mol% polyethylene terephthalate, thereby carrying out the acidolysis between the two reactants, and conducting the polycondensation reaction in a vacuum. The resulting polymer is molded into a molding in the form of a film or fiber, which is irradiated with an ionizing radiation at an accelerating voltage of 10-10000kV at a does of 50-150 Mrad. |
