PURPOSE:To improve suitability to coating with cement by incorporating Fe2O3 and/or TiO2 into spinel or magnesia grains and grain boundaries. CONSTITUTION:Starting materials such as MgO and Al2O3 are kneaded with 1.6-10wt.% Fe2O3 and/or 0.5-3wt.% TiO2 and the kneaded product is molded, dried at 100-110 deg.C and fired at >=1,700 deg.C for about 10hr to obtain magnesia.alumina type spinel-based starting material contg. Fe2O3 and/or TiO2 in spinel or magnesia grains and grain boundaries. |
