The invention relates to an apparatus and method for monitoring surgical textile absorbers, surgical instruments and accessories, with chip tag and monitoring and radio frequency identification operating at UHF (ultra-high frequency), and comprises the apparatus, software and method for identifying and continuously directly counting objects inside and outside a surgical field, and for monitoring objects on the instrument table and indirectly in the site of the surgery. In an embodiment, the apparatus has a device for inputting data in two steps, a table for surgical instruments to which the data input device is attached, a hand-held data input device and a scanning output device for generating a detection field and receiving the data that identify said objects. In another embodiment, the apparatus has a plurality of upper and lower antennas to generate a detection field and to receive data identifying said objects. Various surgical and packaging methods were designed to prevent electromagnetic coupling, including the protection of objects and identifiers. The invention provides an apparatus and a method comprising a scanner, laparoscopic surgery probes and techniques for fastening tags to textiles to ensure the safety of a patient during a surgical intervention. |
