摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the discharge characteristic of an alkaline battery while maintaining the corrosion resistance at a high level by coating a gallium alloy containing aluminum 0.1-15wt.% on the zinc or zinc alloy powder surface. CONSTITUTION:A gallium alloy containing aluminum 0.1-15wt.% is coated on the zinc or zinc alloy powder surface to obtain a negative electrode active material for an alkaline battery. The content of aluminum in the gallium alloy is set to 0.1-15wt.%, preferably 0.1-5 wt.%. If the melting point of the alloy coated on the zinc or zinc alloy powder surface exceeds 100 deg.C, it is necessary to use the steam of an autoclave in the coating process, however the melting point of the alloy is 100 deg.C or below for the above alloy composition, thus it can be processed at the hot-water temperature, and the coating action is simplified. The coating quantity of the above alloy is preferably set to 0.1-10 pts.wt. against zinc or zinc alloy powder 100 pts.wt.
