PURPOSE: To suppress cycle up and cycle down to a low level by providing a supporting base body having electrical conductive surface, an electric charge blocking layer containing a vinyl hydroxyester or the like and one layer of a photoconductive layer and using the electric charge blocking layer as an electrophotographic image forming member having surface resistivity larger than about 10<10>Ω/square. CONSTITUTION: The electrophotographic image forming member is provided with the supporting base body having the electrical conductive surface, the electric charge blocking layer containing the vinyl hydroxy ester or the like and at least one layer of the photoconductive layer, the electric charge blocking layer has the surface resistivity larger than 10<10>Ω/square and the vinyl hydroxy ester or a vinyl hydroxy amide polymer is expressed by formula I, and X in formula I is expressed by formula II. Where, R is selected from a group composed of an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocylclic aliphatic group and the like, (z) expresses the numbers of l-10 hydroxyl groups. Each of R', R" and R"' is selected from a group composed of individually hydrogen, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group and the like. And by using the electrophotographic image forming member, the cycle up and the cycle down in the electric charge image forming process is suppressed to the low level.
