PURPOSE:To prevent the coloring and damage of an optical system due to X-rays and to prolong the service life by using a specified phosphor. CONSTITUTION:An X-ray image sensor is composed essentially of a solid-state image pickup element 4, a fiber plate 2 and a fluorescent screen 1 formed with a phosphor represented by the formula (where R is Li, Na or K, Ln is La, Gd or Y, M is W or Mo, z=2 in the case of x=1, z=4 in the case of x=5 and 0.1<=y<=1.0. A concrete example of the phosphor represented by the formula is Na5Nd(WO4)4.
