Cylinder head gasket of the type comprising a plate (1) forming the middle region, sealing rings at the fluid passages, consisting in particular of fire rings (5) for gas-tightness around each combustion chamber, holes (4) aligned along the longitudinal edges for the set bolts to pass through in mounting the cylinder head on the cylinder block, the gasket being characterised in that the plate (1) has thicker areas near the transverse edges (7) so as to reduce bending of the cylinder head as it is clamped to the cylinder block. <IMAGE>
