发明名称 Improvements in or relating to illuminating devices comprising liquid-cooled sources of electric illumination
摘要 454,906. Two-part couplings. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. March 9,1936, No. 7122. Convention date, March 20, 1935. [Class 38 (i)] [See also Group XL] An illuminating device comprises a fixed head 1, Fig. 1, one or more lamp casings 2, 3, movably arranged on the head, and cooling liquid and electric supply systems arranged in the head and casings in such manner that only in the operative position is the lamp connected to the liquid and current supplies. Highpressure vapour-discharge lamps in which incandescent electrodes project through mercury or amalgam may be used. The casings 2, 3 form one cast member which is rotatably mounted upon the conical head 1. A liquid supply conduit 15 in the head 1 ends in an aperture 16 which registers with one of the conduits 19, connected to the casings, only when the lamp is in the operative position. The liquid is conducted away through conduits 20, a recess 18 extending completely around the head 1 and a conduit 17. Sieves 21 are provided in the conduits 17 or 20 to trap glass fragments. A lamp 5 is resiliently secured within an insulating cap 7 which is secured by a screwed ring 22 to the casing and is provided with a contact 8 and three springs 9 which connects the casing through a ring, supporting rod 24 and spring 23, to one contact of the lamp. The other contact of the lamp is connected through contact 8 to a resilient strip 11 which is connected to the supply cable 12 and is mounted in an insulator 10 secured to the head 1. The strip 11 may be rigid and the contact 8 resilient. The casings are locked in the operative position by a spring-biassed pin 13 or by a notch in the strip 11 in which contact 8 is locked. Glass plates 25 are secured to the casing through packing by nuts 26, and reflectors 30 and a lens 29 are provided. The cap 6 may be provided with two contact pins 31, Fig. 2, which are connected to the lamp terminals and are adapted to move at right angles to the plane containing the pins to engage contacts 32 connected to the supply cables. Either the pins 31 or the contacts 32 may be resilient and may be provided with locking means. The cap is provided with a suitably curved rib 49 which registers with a groove in the insulator 10. In another form, a lamp casing 33, Fig. 4, is secured to tubes 34, 35, which are slidably mounted in a member 36 and secured together by a bridge piece 37 and a spring biassed bolt 38. The member 36 is rotatably mounted on a fixed head 41 to which the cooling liquid is supplied and forms therewith a rotary stop valve. The member 36 supplies liquid to the casing through a flexible tube 42 and the pipe 34 ; the liquid is discharged through pipe 35 and flexible tube 44. An insulator 10, provided with contacts, as shown in Fig. 2, is mounted by a strap 45 on the head 41 and the pipes 34, 35 are slid through the member 36 to bring the lamp cap into engagement with contacts in the insulator 10. Straight interengaging grooves and ribs are provided on the cap 6 and the member 10. To cut off the electric and liquid supplies the casing &c. is first moved laterally and then rotated. A relay may be used to bring a new lamp into operation upon the breakdown of the old lamp.
