PURPOSE: To minimize the volume which is charge with rare gas in the cervical region of a glass sphere and to adequately support a electrode bar without requiring troublesome forming work for the cervical region of the glass sphere. CONSTITUTION: In order to reduce noble gas charging pressure in a high pressure discharge lamp, disks 9, 9' made of especially aluminum oxide ceramics which is movably engaged to electrodes 4, 4' between supporting materials 6, 6' and a positioning coil spring 8 is inserted into opposite side of glass sphere cervical regions 2, 2' charged with relatively cold gas during lamp operation in relation to a glass sphere 1. |
