The chair, esp. an armchair (1), has an at least partly sprung bottom frame (4), with arm-rests (10). A seat-surface (12) is movable on a horizontal axle (8, 10). Also included is a back-rest (3). The bottoam frame has two side, resilient, convex support struts (12) pointing upwards from a floor-support (11). The seat and back-rest are fixed to the struts. The front part (15) of each support-strut (12) next to the floor support forms a springy, flexible leg. The bending resistance of the support-struts decreases upwards. The seat's underside (5) has a rigid panel (6) the front of which is movably attached to the support-struts and which has a cushion (7) on it. ADVANTAGE - The seat surface is vertically sprung when the sitter's body weight is applied to the seat-surface attachment, and when the sitter leans back, the height of the seat axle remains unchanged.
