The invention concerns a catheter (1) for introducing medicinal substances into arteries consisting of a tube (7) of elastic material closed in a rounded shape at the patient end with a one-way valve (9) in the region of the patient end in the form of a slit made in the tube material, the walls of which are held together by the elasticity of the material. Here, the rounded end of the tube is formed by a complete cylindrical section of the tube material having, on the tube side, a plane bordering surface limiting the tube aperture at the front (5), the slit of the one-way valve extending as far as the circular bordering surface. Silicon rubber is used as the material of the catheter. The catheter is especially useful for the treatment of leg arteries and ensures that there is no unacceptable backflow of blood.
