Small arms target puncture evaluation by back-lighting - remote monitoring of digitised image from camera lifted into position by detector of bullet impact

The target (6) is lowered (4) from a store (2) into position for firing practice in front of a supplementary (18), into which a camera (11) on a platform (13) is afterwards raised (19) while the target (6) is illuminated from behind by an extended source (9) lowered on toothed belts (8). The side facing the camera (11) is illuminated (12) at lower intensity so that the puncture appears as a bright spot. The movement (21) is triggered by the bullet-catcher (5a). ADVNATAGE - Target is examined in-situ immediately after being fired at, with rapid and reproducible results at little extra cost.
