The description relates to a device for coating a substrate with a fluid, which may in particular be a dispersion or suspension of a coating substance in a volatile vehicle fluid, with a nozzle system which has at least one dual-substance nozzle for the intermittent application of the fluid and for the extraction of a gas. Accoding to the invention the dual-substance nozzle, in order to obtain or maintain a rotary gas flow, has an inner nozzle and an annular space coaxially surrounding it into the jacket area of which opens at least one gas inlet nozzle, the longitudinal axis of which does no intersect that of the inner nozzle, and the annular space has an exit aperture surrounding the exit aperture of the inner nozzle, thus providing a device by means of which the lubricant can be intermittently supplied to the inner nozzle and there is a further device by means of which the gas can be continuously supplied to the gas inlet nozzle.
