An electrical detector employing a heated SnO2 semiconductor gas sensor, for emitting an alarm on detection of a gas/air mixt. of specific concn., consists of a circuit (13) fitted in a two-piece installation housing (A,C), contact being made by pins on the underside of the circuit inserted into socket holes (9) of a multiconnector in the housing mounting part (C). The circuit may be inserted into a pattress. USE/ADVANTAGE - The detector may be installed in dwellings, boats or caravans as an explosion, fire or carbon monoxide security system. It is sensitive to all oxidisable or combustible gases, requires only a low voltage (e.g. 5 or 12V) and lower power (0.8W) supply and is compact.
