A method and device for switching operation modes of a mobile terminal. The method comprises: acquiring an image located in front of or behind a screen of a mobile terminal; performing facial recognition on the acquired image to obtain a facial image; determining whether the facial image obtained via the recognition is an image of a child; and if so, then switching an operation mode of the mobile terminal to a child mode. The method of an embodiment of the present invention performs the facial recognition on the acquired image located in front of or behind the screen of the mobile terminal, and determines whether the facial image obtained via the recognition is an image of a child so as to switch the operation mode of the mobile terminal, thus simplifying a switching process of the operation mode, increasing an efficiency of switching to a child mode, and improving user experience. |
