A message processing method and device are provided in the present application, and the method comprises: a transmitter sends a message to a receiver in a read-only mode, and the receiver displays content of the message in the read-only mode to a user without being able to store the message as it is in the read-only mode; the transmitter clears the content of the message and sends the message with empty content to the receiver; the receiver receives the message again and updates the displayed content of the message to the content of the latest received message in order to implement deleting the message content as the displayed content in the receiver is empty due to the clearance of the message content in the transmitter. Thus, the method and device in the embodiments of the present invention can ensure that the message content is deleted in the receiver as well as the message is not stored by the receiver, thus reducing the risk of storing the message content in the receiver.
