The mother alloy for melting the brake shoe containing phosphorus is composed of 1.7-3.1 wt.% carbon, 1.5-2.5 wt.% silicon, 0.7-2.0 wt.% manganese, 9.0-16.0 wt.% phosphorus, 9.5-13.5 wt.% copper, 2.0-5.5 wt.% chromium, 2.0-5.5 wt.% titanium and vanadium, and the balance of iron. The mother alloy is prepared by (a) producing the first intermetallic alloy by melting Cu and Fe-P, (b) producing the second intermetallic alloy by melting pig iron, Fe-Si and Fe-Mn, (c) producing the third intermetallic alloy by mixing and melting pig iron, chromium, vanadium and titanium, (d) mixing and melting these intermetallic alloy.
