A method of detection of leaks of heating pipes surfaces of steam boilers, particularly having a tendency for periodical occurrences of dominant components of acoustic spectrum background in the range of frequencies below 300 Hz, consisting in analysis and comparison of acoustic signal emitted by theses leaks to the acoustic background of the boiler, characterised in that from the acoustic signal from the measurement point is collected the signal of background dominant within the rang of 20-300 Hz, if present, and a further analysis and comparison is conducted of leak acoustic signal taking into account the background dominant.<IMAGE>
