PRODUCING ENCAPSULATED FIBROUS INSULATION BLANKET

A fiber glass insulation blanket (B) encapsulated within a air-permeable sheet (34) on one major face and a non-porous film (50) extending over the other major face and the two side edges is produced as follows. The film is applied by being wrapped around the edges of the backed blanket and preferably being heat sealed to the backing sheet. The air-permeable sheet is preferably applied to the blanket before curing of the binder in the blanket, and in a preferred method the glass fibers (12) are deposited directly on the sheet while the sheet is supported on a collection chain (16) (see Figure 1).
