A control system for a continuously variable transmission (fig. 2a) for a motor vehicle has a hydraulic circuit (Fig. 2a, 2b) supervised by a control unit (70) which adjusts the transmission ratio. To improve system response under transient conditions when the accelerator pedal is rapidly depressed while the transmission ratio is changing, the transmission ratio changing speed is reduced for a predetermined time. |
