A tooth cleaning device for the best possible cleaning of teeth on at least two sides of a tooth or a row of teeth comprises a cleaning head (1) with a substantially U-shaped bearer (6) on which are arranged sets of brushes (10). The sets of brushes are arranged on individually self-positioning rockers (8) on the U-shaped bearer so as to be able to clean even those tooth positions which are difficult of access. The sets of brushes are given a cleaning or wiping movement from the gum to the crown of the tooth and with at least reduced pressure in the reverse direction with the aid of at least one mechanical and/or electromagnetic drive unit by means of phase-shifted pulsating movements of the bearer (6) in relation to the tooth cleaning device and the rockers (8) with the cleaning brushes (10) in relation to the bearer (6).
