An electrolysis plant for producing hydrogen and oxygen by decomposing an electrolysis liquid with the aid of an electric current, which plant contains a closed, pressurised electrolysis cell 10, for producing hydrogen and oxygen with the aid of an electric current, and a hydrogen line 23, 28, for the purpose of conducting hydrogen out from the inner space of the electrolysis cell 10 to a hydrogen store 30, an oxygen line 22, 33, for the purpose of conducting oxygen out from the inner space of the electrolysis cell 10, and members for the purpose of maintaining a given pressure difference between the pressure in the oxygen line 33 and the pressure in the hydrogen line 28. The plant according to the invention contains an overflow valve 45 in connection with the hydrogen line 28 and members for the purpose of conducting the pressure of the oxygen line 33 to the spring side 48 of the overflow valve 45, with it being possible, in the event of a fall in the oxygen pressure, for example as a consequence of pipe damage, for the pressure in the hydrogen side to fall as well. <IMAGE>
