PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy having higher strength or extrudability than that of a conventional Mg alloy, extrudability equal to and strength over 6000 series aluminum alloy and practicable as a structure material, and a production method for the magnesium alloy.SOLUTION: There is provided the Mg alloy containing a solute element composed of 0.7 atom% to 2.1 atom% of aluminum (Al), 0.10 atom% to 0.25 atom% of calcium (Ca) and 0.5 atom% or less of manganese (Mn) and the balance magnesium (Mg) with inevitable impurities and having atom number ratio of Ca and Al (Ca/Al) of 0.1 to 0.35, a structure of the Mg alloy is composed of a magnesium mother phase and a deposit composed of a solute element, contents of each solute element in the magnesium mother phase being smaller than contents of each solute element. Average of crystal particle diameter of the magnesium mother phase is preferably at least 17 μm and the content of each solute element in the magnesium mother phase is less than 0.1 atom%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
