PURPOSE:To improve the sintering property of a high toughness zirconia sintered compact contg. 2-3mol% yttria in solid soln. and to provide a high density and high strength zirconia sintered compact almost free from internal defects. CONSTITUTION:First zirconia powder contg. 2-3mol% yttria in solid soln. as a stabilizing agent is mixed with 2-12wt.% second zirconia powder contg. <=4mol% yttria in solid soln. as a stabilizing agent and having a higher yttria content than the first zirconia powder. The resulting powdery mixture is compacted and sintered to obtain the objective zirconia sintered compact. |
