PURPOSE:To maintain focus detection precision in the center of a photographic picture plane and enable focus detection even at the periphery of the photographic picture plane while a space is still made small by using a pupil division type re-imaging system and a pupil division type non-re-imaing system distinctively according to the position of a focus detection area when the focus detection is performed in plural areas on the photographic picture plane. CONSTITUTION:On the optical axis of a photographic optical system 3, a pupil division type re-imaging system focus detection module 20 which is large in its occupation space, but has high focus detection precision is arranged and off the optical axis, pupil division type non-re-imaging system focus detection modules 50 and 60 which do not have high focus detection precision, but is small in occupation space are arranged surrounding the focus detection module 20. The focus detection module 20 detects the quantity of defocusing in longitudinal and lateral focus detection areas set on the optical axis of the photographic picture plane with high precision. The focus detection modules 50 and 60 are arranged off the optical axis of the photographic optical system 3 and detect focusing at the periphery of the photographic picture plane. |
