PURPOSE:To prevent a guidance speech, which is automatically outputted at the time of an approach to an intersection, etc., from being misheard. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a CDROM 2 stored with all necessary data for map and speech navigation, etc., and a buffer 4-1 wherein phrases required for a road guidance are previously written by accessing the CDROM, and is provided with a control means 1 which reads phrases selected corresponding to the current position of the vehicle out of the buffer in order with a request signal outputted from a request sensor 7 by driver's operation or the timing signal of automatic speech output; and processed road guidance information is converted by a decoder 4-2 and vocalized through a speaker 5. The automatic speech guidance employs a phrase structure which outputs an attention tone prior to the speech guidance. Consequently, the driver hears the attention tone and pays his or her attention to the successive guidance speech, so the speech is prevented from being misheard. |
