The seat arm mounting (18) clamps onto the upright tubular frame (16) of the seat back, and carries a pivot (20), secured by a nut and stud (26,24). A toothed sector (30) is held to the flange (32) on the pivot, while the arm (48) rotates around the pivot and is held in place by a nut (42), tightening on a bush (40) to provide light friction. A push button (62) with a return spring (64) controls a rod (58) to operate a catch (50), pivoted on a pin (52) set in the arm. The catch engages the toothed sector and locks the arm in position. USE/ADVANTAGE - Common parts may be used to provide a permanent or a removable vehicle seat arm which is adjustable. The push button is easily accessible and will not snag on clothing or luggage.
