PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber gyroscope that is not affected directly by the subsidiary impact of an optical phase modulator.SOLUTION: An optical fiber coil 218 receives an optical signal from a light source 212 through an optical coupler 216, and gives phase shift proportional to rotation. A speed detector 214 capable of optically communicating with the optical fiber coil 218 receives the optical signal from the optical fiber coil 218 through the optical coupler 216. A motor 232 coupled with the optical fiber coil 218 applies cyclic rotation to the optical fiber coil 218 and gives bias phase modulation to the optical signal. A signal processing unit converts the measurement strength of the optical signal into rotational speed data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
