The present invention addresses the problem of inhibiting an increase in the power consumption of a terminal serving as a relay node when a relay action is applied using a D2D-supporting terminal. Provided is a user terminal that connects with a wireless base station and another user terminal, and relays communication between the wireless base station and the other user terminal. This user terminal includes: a transmission unit that transmits, to another user terminal, information related to relay capacity; a reception unit that receives information related to a relay search, said information being transmitted from another user terminal; and a control unit that controls the status of connection with the wireless base station. The transmission unit controls the transmission of the information related to relay capacity on the basis of the status of the connection with the wireless base station.
