PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device with a thermal head capable of achieving various conveniences such as optimization of pressing force and workability in maintenance.SOLUTION: A printing device includes: a head unit 40; a platen roller 14; and a drive section 30. The head unit 40 includes a thermal head 53 to perform printing on a printing object S. The platen roller 14 is opposed to the thermal head 53 across the printing object S. The drive section 30 includes a position reference section 32a. The drive section 30 moves the position reference section 32a so as to change the attitude of the head unit 40. The drive section 30 switches a first state, a second state, and a third state. In the first state, the position of the position reference section 32a is a first position. In the second state, the position of the position reference section 32a is a second position.
