A boiler (100) that comprises a furnace (120) and a flue gas flow duct (210, 220, 230, 228 , 240) comprising a first section (210), a second section (220) and a third section (230). The boiler (100) further comprises ash collecting means (222) in the lower part of said second section (220) of the flue gas flow duct, and a by-pass duct (228) for conveying flue gases from said second section (220) of the flue gas flow duct to said third section (230) of the flow gas flue duct. In the boiler (100), said second section (220) of the flue gas flow duct and said third section (230) of the flue gas flow duct are arranged in such a way in relation to each other that the orthogonal projection (P 230 ) of said third section (230) of the flue gas flow duct on a horizontal plane (P) comprises at least part of the orthogonal projection (P 220 ) of said second section (220) of the flue gas flow duct on said horizontal plane (P). |
