PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing glass, capable of surely uniformizing current density in a flange and vessel used for the introduction of a current into the wall of the vessel.SOLUTION: An apparatus for manufacturing glass includes a vessel and a flange 36 constituted to be connected with the vessel at the outer periphery of the vessel to supply a current to the vessel. The flange 36 having a uniform width includes an outermost ring 40 including nickel and a platinum containing ring 38 connected with the vessel. The outermost ring 40 has an electrode 42 extended from the outermost ring. The width of the platinum containing ring 38 between the wall of the vessel near the electrode and the outermost ring is larger than that of the platinum containing ring 38 on the side opposite to the electrode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
