PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element and the like, increased in stability in the air and decreased in voltage rise rate after an element has been driven for a long period of time, by using a blue phosphorescent compound with a low HOMO energy level.SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent element of the present invention is an organic electroluminescent element including a plurality of organic layers including a luminous layer sandwiched between an anode and a cathode, and a hole blocking layer or an electron blocking layer adjacent to the luminous layer. The luminous layer contains a phosphorescent compound and a host compound. The HOMO energy level and the LUMO energy level of the phosphorescent compound and the host compound, and the LUMO energy level of a compound contained in the hole blocking layer or the electron blocking layer satisfy specific conditions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
