PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light irradiation device capable of highly accurately positioning a light guide body without deteriorating an illuminance property in a lighted region.SOLUTION: The light irradiation device comprises: a light source 43; a substrate 63; a light guide body 41; a transparent member that holds a document; and a tabular member 64 that positions and holds the substrate and the light guide body. The light source 43 is either a light-emitting body that is long in a main scan direction or a plurality of light-emitting elements that are arranged side by side in the main scan direction. The light guide body 41 is long in the main scan direction, includes at least one incidence plane 41a and one emission plane 41b and a plurality of side faces 41c, 41d and 41e, and comprises at least one projection 61 that is formed integrally in the main scan direction. The projection 61 is formed on a side face at a smaller tilt angle with respect to a direction in which strongest light moves forwards out of light beams from the light source 43, among the plurality of side faces of the light guide body 41 and at a position closer to the emission plane than to the incidence plane, and fitted with a hole 62 that is formed in the tabular member 64.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15 |
