PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a driving support function by properly respectively using vehicle detection by vehicle recognition sensors and vehicle detection by vehicle-to-vehicle communication in accordance with a situation.SOLUTION: A surrounding vehicle detection ECU 10 acquires first vehicle information concerning the position of a preceding vehicle recognized by vehicle recognition sensors (front camera 11 and radar 12), and acquires second vehicle information concerning a surrounding vehicle by vehicle-to-vehicle communication with the surrounding vehicle. The surrounding vehicle detection ECU 10 compares position relation between a front immediate vicinity vehicle to be expressed by the first vehicle information and a front immediate vicinity vehicle to be expressed by the second vehicle information. When coincidence in position relation is determined, the surrounding vehicle detection ECU performs control to combine the vehicle information based on the vehicle recognition sensors with vehicle information based on vehicle-to-vehicle communication so as to use the information for a driving support function. When non-coincidence is determined, the surrounding vehicle detection ECU 10 restricts the vehicle information based on the vehicle recognition sensors or the vehicle information based on the vehicle-to-vehicle communication from being used for the driving support function in accordance with the position relation between the vehicles.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
