PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer coating film forming method capable of forming a metallic coating film having high flip-flop properties, particle feeling and jet-blackness.SOLUTION: A multilayer coating film forming method includes that: a coloring coating material, a brilliant coating material and a clear coating material are sequentially coated on a coating object; a coating film being obtained as the hardened coating film of the brilliant coating material and having a thickness of 15 μm has a light transmittance at a wavelength of 400-700 nm of 10-85%; the brilliant coating material contains an alumina flake pigment (a); the alumina flake pigment (a) has black color and an average particle diameter of 15-25 μm; a metal oxide is coated on an alumina flake base material; and iron titanate (FeTiO) is contained at least in a part of the metal oxide.SELECTED DRAWING: None
