PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a fuel cell having high power generation performance using only a catalyst on which efficiency of using a catalyst metal is high.SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing the fuel cell has a step (S11) for obtaining a catalyst by making a carrier carry a catalyst metal, a step (S12) for preparing catalyst ink by mixing a solid proton-conducting material in the catalyst, a step (S13) for preparing a membrane-electrode assembly by coating the catalyst ink on a polymer electrolyte membrane, a step for inspecting whether or not the coverage θ of the solid proton-conducting material covering the catalyst metal in the membrane-electrode assembly (θ=S/(S/S+S) is less than 0.3 (in the formula, (S) is an area where the catalyst metal is in contact with the solid proton-conducting material, (S) is an area where the catalyst metal is in contact with a liquid proton-conducting material, and the liquid proton-conducting material connects the catalyst metal to the solid proton-conducting material in such a manner that proton conduction is possible), and a step (S16) for assembling the fuel cell using the membrane-electrode assembly in which the coverage is less than 0.3 as a result of the inspection.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
