The capsule (1) has a capsule body (2) with a side wall (3) and with a bottom (4) formed in particular in one piece with the latter. The capsule body is closed with a lid (5) for forming a chamber (6) which contains a substance (7) for perparing a liquid food. For the passage of a liquid through the chamber, the lid forms an inlet side and the bottom forms an outlet side, with a preferably central outflow opening (8). The outflow opening is arranged at the end of an outflow pipe (9). At least one filter element (10) with filter openings is arranged on the outflow pipe and/or in the outflow pipe. This filter element serves to retain solids in the chamber as the liquid enters the outflow pipe.
