PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of acquiring an image having a wide dynamic range and a high picture quality.SOLUTION: In a pixel portion of a first chip 10, a plurality of pixels 101 arranged in a form of a matrix are respectively connected to transfer signal lines 103, reset signal lines 104, and row selection signal lines 105 in units of rows, and are connected to a plurality of column output lines 102 in units of columns. Here, to each of the plurality of column output lines 102 disposed in each row, a pixel disposed in a different readout row in the same column is connected. A second chip 11 includes AD converters 111 provided in units of columns, a row scanning circuit 112, a column scanning circuit 113, and a timing control circuit 114. The second chip 11 also includes a changeover switch 116, a frame memory 117, an in-element operation part 118, and a parallel-serial conversion part 119 or the like.
